We made it through miles of the past,

While we contradicted millennia of the future.

You taught me the truth of life and death and of the truth,

Until I was lost in it, lost in the truth.

And you guided me through it, like a madness, you guided me like a madness.

You always looked so fulfilled

But I still remember your eyes filled with that certain sadness,

Not of loss but of something else of something unrecognizable of something hidden something different something forbidden,

Maybe, just something.

But nevertheless they always told stories, stories of you, of how you passed the past and questioned the future, stories that made you hurt inside, but still made you feel like there were a million suns shining your way.

Cheers to Paabi!

What is this life anyway?
Is this real or is this a game we are made to play?

My Grandfather’s soul left his physical body a few hours ago,
I have nothing to say because I am not permitted to know.

For all I know his soul could be at a rock concert (though he wouldn’t choose to go to a rock concert),
He could be reading this poem from over your shoulder,
Climbing a mountain, jumping over a boulder.

The thought of death is something that wanders round in my head all the time,
It is a mystical journey, a secret wonder,
Life without death is like a storm without thunder.
It’s a celebration, like sending off a ship into the magical depths of the ocean.
Death is not separation it is mere frustration
Due to not being able to see or hear,
even though his soul is right here!

Oh, how it would feel so good to just break down and cry without thinking,
But every time I try something pulls me back,
I do not know what, but definitely know why!
I do not know the first thing about death, and yet I fear even the word!

So no goodbyes and no staring up at blue skies,
Death is just a journey, not at all the destination!
We are on our way too, just a little behind,
And I have informed everybody at the destination to cook up some hot ulluval charu for Paabi,
So he’ll feel right at home when he reaches,
I do hope they will save some for me though,
I don’t know what they eat there hopefully not leeches!!!!

People have always told me that a body is nothing it’s the soul that matters,
And likewise, life is nothing, it’s the way you live it that matters.
And if you look at the way Paabi has lived his life you have nothing to worry about.
It truly is a journey and Paabi is wide awake sitting in the front seat and arguing about something or the other.

You can even look at it like the drive to Kundapur,
Life in Bangalore to Sakhleshpur and death is the next half,
But we all end up at the same magical place!
So let’s look forward to the ulluval charu and all the magical wonders these two journeys offer us.

We Love You Paabi, drive safely!
