· Devarakadu - A feature film about tribal migration and afforestation. It was made by Konarak’s father, poet and film-maker, Pattabhi Rama Reddy. Konarak was AD and Kirtana played the female lead. It won the 1994 award for BEST ENVIRONMENTAL FEATURE FILM.

 

· My Children who should be running thru Vast Open Spaces… A documentary film that looks at the issue of Child Sexual Abuse. It develops around the staging of the play by the same name and is intercut with newsflashes and interviews with a range of people. It was produced by MADHYAM.

 

· Guhya - A documentary film on feminine sexual symbols and rituals. It was made as part of a MacArthur fellowship that Kirtana was awarded in 1997. The film takes the viewer on a journey of discovery from the Devadasis of North Karnataka to the Bhagawathi temples of Kerala and finally to Kamakhya in Assam.

            

· The Simputer Story - A documentary film that looks at issues of technology and development. It follows a group of scientists from the Indian Institute of Science who develop an open source, multi-lingual, iconographic, computing device for rural, non-literate usage.

 

· The Simputer Story II -The second part of the Development and Technology trilogy. It was shot among the Maria tribal community and in the Ramakrishna Mission School in Chattisgarh.

 

· Once upon a warm September - A short, silent film about deafness. It was made while collaborating with Common Ground Sign Dance Theatre Company, Liverpool, England.

 

· The Sound of Silence (Intha Kivuduthana) - A documentary film on the link between deafness and consanguinity. The story is told by Dr.Najoo Varkey and involves the experiences of the students and families of Sheela Kothawala School for the Deaf.

 

· Namma Cinema Talkies - This film on adolescent sexuality was made in a participatory manner with a group of young girls. They shot and exercised edit control as they spoke about the pains of adolescence. It was made in collaboration with Samuha & University of California, San Fransisco.

 

· Chandri - A slice-of-life documentary about the life of Chandri, a young Lambani girl. It was shot in real time over a 24 hour period in Kilarhatti Thanda where she lives.
